NEW RULE: Ever-evolving Internet commerce added a new wrinkle last
week, at least on eBay. Ninety percent of World Series tickets listings
have been taken down. Because eBay doesn't know where a seller really
is, the Internet auctioner recently created a rule that the seller
will be subject to the law in which the event takes place. New York
law stipulates that ticket sellers can only make a 10 percent mark-up
when selling. Harvey S. Jacobs, managing director for Jacobs &
Associates, an Internet law firm, believes eBay might be taking
it too far. "It appears as though eBay has made a broad solution
to a narrow problem," he said.

PARALYMPICS LIVE: They're here. The Sydney Paralympics, unlike
that city's Olympics, can be seen live on the Internet. From last
Wednesday's opening ceremony through the Oct. 29 closing ceremony,
wemedia.com is showing video of the Paralympics live daily from
6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The site has taped highlights the other 12
hours each day. Wemedia.com will have rosters, schedules, biographies,
photos and archives. NBC Sports' telecasts of the Sydney Games last
month showed action entirely on tape, with the exception of the
men's gold medal basketball game.

GOAL POSTS FOR SALE: Perhaps its the English equivalent of getting
a piece of those goal posts that were torn down at Sanford Stadium
a few weeks ago. QXL.com will host an auction of memorabilia from
England's Wembley Stadium to be Webcast live on Oct. 30. Memorabilia
includes the goal posts from the last football match hosted at the
stadium, various traveling rugs used by guests in the Royal Box,
and the England shield and crest from the South Dressing Room. Visit
the site to register or view the catalog.

FANTASY FOOTBALL LAND
Today's checklist: Backup quarterbacks usually aren't the answer
if your team is struggling, but other players sometimes step up
when they're in the game.
Trent Green: The exception to the previously stated rule, he was
15-for-21 for 205 yards and three touchdowns in relief of Rams quarterback
Kurt Warner. While Warner is benched with a broken little finger
on his right (throwing) hand, Green might be a sound alternative.

Scott Mitchell: Didn't complete any of his five pass attempts after
Bengals passer Akili Smith went out with a possible concussion.
He didn't need to, though, with Corey Dillon and Peter Warrick carrying
the load.

Jim Miller: Replaced Bears passer Cade McNown, who separated his
throwing shoulder on a 1-yard scramble early in the second quarter,
and was 14-for-34 for 128 yards. Nobody else did much, either, for
1-7 Chicago.

Vince Dooley recognized the importance of the long snapper when
he was Georgia's football coach, so much so that during a weekly
press conference he made special mention of the player performing
the duty for Vanderbilt. There are others who appreciate the work
of players who are noticed only when they make a mistake --- the
folks at Long Snap, for instance, who have elevated hiking a football
to an art form. The site seeks to become the source for long snapping
information, with tips from top NFL snappers and news about snappers
in college and the pros.

PRO FOOTBALL: It's the age-old rivalry, at least of the post-Baby
Boom Age: the Miami Dolphins at the New York Jets. Bill Parcells
and Jimmy Johnson may not be there anymore, but it's for supremacy
in the AFC East. Live audio is available at a variety of sites.
